Samsung Galaxy S II

I have installed the latest version of qik.

I log in, i connect, record. updaqtes my location and when it says live at...  on my browser opens the live streaming video window but it doesnt works, black screen video and it seems like loading, if i stop the video and upload it, some times i can see (not live) the video, some times i see black screen again.

I thought it was my browser or any plug in, i tried to see my live streaming from different pc's but the same result.

Is there any incompatibility with Galaxy S II???

Hi jkotsu, please try streaming again as there was an issue with the streaming previously. It should be working now for you.

Exact same here... it is a black stream, and then after stopping, I can turn around and watch the saved video.  Also Samsung Galaxy SII

I have the same problem with Samsung Galaxy S II. The livestreaming window stays black. Afterwards I could see the video, but not the live streaming. I realize that I cannot change the video quality in the settings area on the mobile. Would it be the problem?

Even some acknowledgment of this problem and this call would be nice.  Hey support, are you even monitoring this call at all?  Would be nice to know where things are at, and would you rather, that us Samsung Galaxy SII owners go to another company? (that's a pretty significant number of users!

I completely agree! So many complaints and no signal from the company. I think that Qik support is really not monitoring this forum because there is a spam above and nobody moderated it. It seems that Qik is not moving forward as fast as it should. We should consider using Ustream, that works perfectly in this cel phone model.

Guys, just want to share with you some information that may be useful for us, but definitely is useful for the Qik support team. Below is the email I sent them regarding this issue.

Thanks for your reply. I made further tests and I am pretty sure that the problem with the live streaming is related to the video quality, because the file of the video is so large that it cannot be transfered through the connection in real time. To give you an idea, when I record a 30 seconds video with Qik in my Samsung the file size is about 12MB. It is a lot for a 30 seconds video. When I use Qik in my iPhone 3G, the same video with 30 seconds has 1MB, and the live streaming works perfectly, with lower quality for sure.

About the video quality settings, you said that it is only available for premium accounts, but my account is premium and I don't have access to these settings. My login is motonline and you can check it.

Although I understand that you are working on this problem, I really would like to ask your help.

I will participate in an event this weekend and 3 days ago I bought a new Samsung Galaxy S II GT-I9100 to live stram the event using Qik. Today I spent 6 hours in a row trying to make it work but was not successful. My android version is 2.3.3.

Just to explain you my problem, I paid USD1,000 for this cel phone (yes, it is hard to believe, but this is the price down here), and we don't have the option of returning it, as we have in the US and many other developed countries. I lived in the US in the past. So I am very frustrated and a little bit desperate because of this event. It doesn't seem to be something hard to solve, but just you and Qik's team can do that. I can help you.

Another information. I saw in this page (http://support.qik.com/entries/311743-do-i-have-the-latest-version-...) that Qik has an app called "Qik for Samsung" and that this app works with the android 2.3.3. I tried to download this version but it doesn't allow me saying that it is not available in my country.

Well, as you can see, as a user I think I can help you guys solve this issue, but I definitely need your help. Can you help me to solve it?

Hii Iynette t. Thanks for showing up. I am already exchanging emails with Qik's support team for a few days but it has not solved the problem. The support is incredibly slow and they take one day or more to answer each email. As I posted previously, I have an event starting tomorrow, I bought the premium account, and I would expect a faster support. Through this open forum Qik can have an idea about the number of people with the same problem and put more priority into it. And consider that the number of people that complaints is just a small fraction of the whole amount of people with the same problem worldwide. Well, after a few days I hope I can get a solution from you before my event, which is going to take place tomorrow.

Hi Lynette,  sounds like you have a pretty good bunch of people here, and IS a GOOD place to discuss this as a group, so please don't try to pidgeon hole this into separate support incidents that obviously don't go anywhere.  This will also save your help desk time, as we can all test it as a group (and it sounds like your help desk is VERY understaffed, so probably a good idea to keep it as a group effort here)... that way, OTHERS can also join in on this topic, and maybe we can help you with testing, or whatever, when you (HOPEFULLY SOON) get this resolved.

do you really belive that works?? there are so many SII that have that problem... there is no way, i have tried all the versions. i havent custom rom, i think that is the size of the video that you cannot change in standar version, its to big for live streaming... someone mentioned it and seems to be very reasonable, its general problem, not to specific SII devices

O.K. first I am with AT&T, second I tried the Qik lite that came with the phones it only worked over wifi. I was disappointed because we pay for a lot of data and I thought it to be ashamed that we could not put the video chatting to use through our data package. So I go on the market tried the other recommended version of video chat by At&t which was Tango. Tango sucked! So tried Ovoo then, I tried qik premium. Now the premium version was supposed to be $5 a month per phone. I was willing to pay for it. However when I took the LG Thrill back for the S Galaxy II, I went on the market and found that the premium version was now free.  SO, I down loaded the app to both our phones and we video chat all the time over wifi, 3 &4g. We  talk while shes in the car on the road with her co workers, and  while I'm in my truck sitting at docks making delivers, no wifi there. So I don't  know about ya'll. But I'm loving it!!!!!  The only thing I don't like is the fact that I cannot use my blue tooth to talk to her. QIK techs fix that please!!!!  Give us all super updates on this app.

Hi, we have tested the latest version of the application, T-Mobile Video Chat powered by Qik, version 11.62, from the Android market, it is able to live stream the videos to Qik. Could we check if you are using the latest application and may we know what Android OS are you running on?

Hi, to all Samsung Galaxy II users, if you are not with T-Mobile carrier, please uninstall all other Qik applications, and install the application, QIk Video, version 13.30 from the Android market and let us know if you are still facing issues with the live streaming.

Guys.... I found the solution of live streaming.... Go to Adroid market and install USTREAM! it works perfect! You can put embeded code to your site and your friends can see your camera from your site, except ustream personal channel. I uninstall QIK......

I have the Sprint SII.  Same problem as jkotsou.  Android Market will only allow me to download the Sprint version of Qik.  I have the latest version and it does not work.

To support - given that it is not possible to download version 13.30 for Sprint phones (Market only allows the download of version 11.80 for Sprint), could you provide an apk of the non-Sprint version so that I can test and see if it works?

Hello Lynette.

Tried the 13.27 version on SGS2. Did not work. Still think the video quality is too high. Make it possible to downgrade video or make the Qik for Samsung app available worldwide.

Any solution to fool the market into thinking it IS available in my country?

I've tried both the 13.30 version from the Market as well as the 13.27 version you posted earlier.

As this is the Galaxy S2 topic, it would of course be a Samsung Galxaxy S2. Device number for every S2 is GT I9100.

Hope you get things sorted soon.

Hello I am facing the same issues with qik, I cannot see anything appart of a black screen in livestream studio which I use.

I am making an application for a movie which includes certain links to qik and livestream an is extremely urgent to have it.

This happens to my sisters HTC mytouch slide... and shes really getting histerical, even went to the store to change her phone, this was one of the reasons she bought it, her boyfriend is far, shes really frustrated, and I have a Galaxy SI and sometimes it mesees up too

First of all, this thread is about Qik not working. Stop promoting tango. I want a fix for Qik. Second of all, this Tango is not to be compared with Qik, because you need to CALL people before you can broadcast video. That's bullshit if you want to just use it as a webcam.

People of Qik, please hurry and find a solution, because as you can see, people are already looking for alternatives.

Nick Lauren, please I ask you again, shut up and stop your spamming. Tango is NOT, I repeat, NOT to be compared with Qik. If you are representing that piece of sh*t program, which I suspect you are, then make sure you can livestream without having to CALL a person first. Qik is way better than stupid Tango, when it works.

I agree with edterbak, Qik is great when it is working. I had it for blackberry. Now I have a Samsung Mesmerize and I am experiencing the same problem everyone else has. I'm hoping they get it fixed and I would be willing to try any beta versions to help problem solve and test why it has a problem sending the stream,

hi all.

I'm having the same issue above. I have a S2 GT9100 and I can't see any video from the qik website. The window just keeps loading forever .. sometimes I can hear something, but no video. I can playback the recorded video from the smartphone, but nothing happens from the website.

Version 15.10 seems to work OK on S2 Skyrocket (AT&T) running Gingerbread 2.3.5.

Galaxy s 2 now works with Qik, even if you see the video goes very badly and slowly. does not work the link between Qik and livestream.com. Perhaps Qik is abandoning this path. or perhaps, and livestream Samsung are preparing something together

Thanks for some semblance of an effort, Lynette, but this level of support for a flagship device is simply unconscionable on the part of Qik. This should work, there's no reason it can't. If it worked consistently it would be a ginormous marketing win so I'm amazed that it's being left to die by the side of the road. I'm glad I don't have a need for it to work, like a riot going on or political uprising, because I would be out of luck. I was stuck with the Sprint version of the apk from the Market, which won't let me change the video quality settings. The only thing I can imagine is a conversation from the people at Sprint going something like this.

 

Marketing Senior VP- "This phone has an 8MP sensor, so let's lock it to 1080p video for Qik."

Engineering Team-"Umm, our network won't support those kinds of upload speeds. You can't just live stream HD video from a mobile network. It doesn't happen."

VP-"Bullshit! It's 4G, it's the best! Tell Qik to take away the option to change quality. It might not work perfectly, but when it does, it will look awesome!"

Engineers-"Ummmm, it's not going to work, like, at all."

VP-"Just do it."

So, here we are.

If it makes you feel any better, the front-facing 1.2MP camera fares no better.

To all Galaxy S II users who want a legit service that works as advertised, just go get UStream. It worked the first time, with BOTH cameras. Sure, the site has ads, but it's small inconvenience compared to it NOT WORKING IN THE SLIGHTEST, like Qik.

If it wasn't clear:

USTREAM WORKS FINE. It's Free and doesn't require calling people to work. There's ads, but they're short, and a small price to pay for a service that actually works. Hell, there's ads on Youtube and that's not slowing them down.

If you need a service like this ie: Riots, political upheaval, any situation where you need to be literally LIVE, it's the way to go until Qik gets ther act together. Really, Qik, it's been MONTHS of dicking around and "we're working on it". Do you guys even have 1 competent developer on the case, or a team of retarded monkeys that you just beat with a hammer?

As of today, it's been over a month since the last response from Qik on an obviously unresolved issue. Oh, wait, make that the top issue on the support page. A month. Nothing. This is how companies die. Everyone finds something else that does what you were supposed to do and when you show up a year later saying "Oh, it's fixed." Nobody is there to care. You have nobody to blame but yourselves.

ustream is working well. but I need to work with livestream.com. I work live streaming,ustream does not have a studio where you can choose which room to go live, and this limitis great ustream. I bought 2 galaxy s why he said it worked with Qik. Instead it gives me an injury. it is really inconceivable that so many months Qik has not solved the problem. mind you that I am a premium user.

as recommended by a previous post gingerbread 2.3.5 using Qik now works.livestream.com but strangely does not see the video, the light comes on live, but thescreen stays black.
