To all Samsung Epic users,
Please uninstall all Qik application on your device by going to the phone settings of your device, tap on Application>Manage applications>Qik Video>Uninstall updates. After doing so, please reboot your device and go to the Android market to install the latest version for Qik Video by Sprint, version 11.59.

This update resolves:
- video orientation that corrects sideways video for front facing camera
- force close of application and
- forced update that is unavailable

before doing this will I lose my current video?
This method did not work for me. Qik has never had right orientation for the front facing camera. very frustrating. I uninstalled and then reinstall, no luck. still the same. please fix. I have never been able to work with the app at all. about to give up.

@Mary Davis-Robinson: Are you able to upload the video to www.qik.com without the update? You will not lose your current video however, it will be encouraged to upload the video if possible.
yes, I am able to upload. the record function i think it's fine, just orientation of the front facing camera - inverted, there's even a test video of me on qik (inverted) on my profile that i upload when i first got the phone. i never did any video as this has never worked on my phone. We are talking about just the Qik video and not my regular phone video right?
i have never been able to properly use Qik since i got my phone a year ago. thanks

yes, there's is two. i am getting really confused now, thought i uninstalled and reinstalled. yes there's 2 Qik Apps on my device
Please check that there is only 1 Qik application on your device.
We would suggest that you try uninstalling the application by going to the home screen of your device, tap on Menu to go to the Settings>Application>Manage Application>Uninstall updates or Uninstall. After doing so, please reboot your device and go to the Android market to install the latest application, version 11.59, Qik for Sprint.
I also had 2 Qik apps on my SAmsung Epic. I have uninstalled both and rebooted. It appears that the originally installed Qik v0.04.77 (2.44mb) is still in my list of "all" apps. The Qik icon is still in my list of apps on the screen as well. There is no way for me to uninstall it. The uninstall button is grayed out.
I have gone to the market and installed the new Qik for sprint app 11.59.. When I try to open the newly installed Qik for sprint, I am forced to "update Qik" before I can proceed. However, the update is for the old version of Qik. The only way to proceed is to update, and I end up with the 2 versions of Qik again.

@Paul Distefano: We are aware of the issue of having 2 applications on the device. We would be looking into it so as to resolve your issue. Are you facing any other issues?
How do you Video Chat with contacts on a different carrier???
Still sideways and force close after record
The fix on this page did not work for me (Samsung Epic on Sprint). I still ended up with 2 Qik apps on my phone and neither worked. I sent an email to Qik support, and they sent me an "unreleased" update. That fixed the main problem. Now I have 1 working Qik app on my phone.
One problem - the video chat works, but the video is inverted in portrait mode (we see each other upside down). The only way around this is to use the app in Landscape mode only.
The sound isn’t very good, but the video works (the more light the better). It’s a free app, so I have no complaints. I'm sure it will improve over time.

@sarah610: Hi Sarah, as long as you have the contacts of the user from any mobile carrier on your device, you are able to video chat with them. You may like to take a look at this link, http://support.qik.com/entries/20129646-how-do-i-add-delete-friends-from-my-qik-contact-list. Alternatively, if you aware of the other party's username, please type it in the dialpad and you are able to connect with them on a video call.
I see that there are: Qik Video, Qik Video for Sprint, and Qik Video for Samsung - what is a better version for the Sprint Samsung Epic 4G? Its confusing. Thanx.

I have a Samsung Epic4g and want to UNINSTALL QIK. Not a reflection on what I always thought to be a good product, but it is not for me. I have tried everything and can't seem to remove it. I don't want to make a trip to the Sprint store, and I am totally frustrated by an APP that will not permit itself to be removed.
I had the same problem with my Epic 4G but now have it corrected. I'm somewhat vague on what I changed, but can only recommend going through the settings, clear cache and others and it should be fine.
Hi lramp, for quite a long time I had issues with the camera orientation and had not been able to solve the problem. I had gone through numerous versions of Qik without success. Then one day, while playing with the settings I inadvertantly corrected it while still running Android version Froyo. I'm somewhat rusty on what I had done to correct the orientation. Here's where I am at present. Like yourself, I'm running two active versions of Qik, my Sprint rooted version is 11.8 and a newer version of 13.3 (may possibly also be rooted, I don't see the option to remove it). Both of these appear to only give me the choice of "uninstall updates", not "remove application". Whatever versions you are running, I would recommend to "clear data" and "clear cache" on each version you are running to correct the screen orientation problem. Then power down and power up and see if that fixes the problem you're having. I will say that once working Qik appears to work quite nicely. Reason I have been browsing the forum is I'm confused as to why two versions of Qik are active at the same time. As well I am have having issues with SETTINGS - SHARING - "Complete action using" then I have two sets of sharing settings, com.qikffc.android & also com.qik.android. Same problem with the PRIVACY SETTINGS, as if both versions of Qik are active. So yes, apparently two versions of Qik running simultaneously. I have contacted support and am waiting for a reply.
I'm having a problem with both our Epics in which one says the other user is "not available" and the other says you must have "3G or higher" to work. I'm on 6 bars with 3G on my Airave and Wifi doesn't help. I deleted the updates and went to the market and installed the latest Qik for Sprint app. the Version is
0.11.80
Randy Rose, well I'm no expert as I'm still a little confused why I have two versions running at the same time. But overall Qik seems to be running just fine on my Epic as far as I can tell. I have friends viewing my video's without a hitch. I have not tried a Qik "Video Chat" as of yet. About the problem you're having, I assume you both are already registered Qik users with two different user names, and both are in a wi-fi or 3G or 4G area while attempting a call. Are either one of you able to use the "Record and Share" feature? I'm just trying to help diagnose the problem you're having.
Update: I did clear data and uninstall, but instead of updating thru the original app, I went to the Android market and updated to Qik for Sprint as described above on both phones and now everything is working.
lramp: Hi, as Qik is a preloaded application on your Samsung Epic device, you are unable to uninstall it.
We would suggest you to force close the application to avoid having it running in the background.

We are aware of the 2 applications running on your device.
We would advice you to uninstall all the applications, just like what Randy did, and re-install the version 11.80 of the application, Qik Video.

Hi Lynette, yes I was able to uninstall both apps and re-install Sprint version 11.8, all is working very well now. Sometimes it is not terribly obvious on how to accomplish the end task. My advice to all with the Epic 4G is to make certain that only Sprint version 11.8 is installed and running. By the way I'm running Gingerbread and along with Qik seems to be a winning combination. Camera orientation problems are now solved.
On my samsung epic when trying to stream LIVE, the video is black online, but you see the timer counting, but no one can see it. I have the updated QIK for Sprint from the market, and my phone is firmware 2.3.5, gingerbread.EI22
So Oakland Police start teargassing people and QIK suddenly won't work anymore - again. Sprint Samsung EPIC 4G, Firmware 2.3.6. Qik version 0.11.80. I have had this phone for 13 months and Qik only worked for 3 weeks. Will you people PLEASE fix this freeking APP????? What the hell is wrong with you people, don't you CARE?

I noticed the app supports most Android phones with the exception of Samsung Galaxy S3.What gives?Haven't been able to install the app due to that reason.
